Although the Makara is built on the same running gear as the venerable CFA.14, the rest of the vehicle is rebuilt from the ground up. Features of the Makara include more robust armor and the option for heavier armament, as well as increased speed and crew comfort. Unfortunately, this laundry list of improvements came at the cost of complexity and expense, and the Makara has yet to be produced in sufficient numbers to truly become a replacement for the Ammit. It is likely that the two vehicles will soldier on, side-by-side, for a long time to come.
