A lower noble of Czech origin, Jan Zizka would go on to lead the Taborites during the civil wars known as the Hussite Wars. The Taborites were part of the larger Hussite movement, which sought to fight against the combined catholic forces arrayed against them. Despite overwhelming odds multiple times, Zizka was never defeated.
Jan Zizka had lost the sight in one of his eyes during his youth. Later, during the siege of Rabi Castle, the brilliant military leader would be permanently blinded.
